Treatment pathways with MCC
Controlling medical workflows creates transparency and reduces documentation requirements.

An integrated treatment pathway in MCC is a control instrument that describes how to optimize a specific type of treatment including key diagnostic and therapeutic services and their sequences. The objective of implementing a clinical treatment pathway is to give the physician and the nursing staff guidelines for treating defined symptoms.
Advantages at a glance:
- Optimum patient treatment
- Optimum use of all available resources
- Cost reductions due to transparent treatment processes
- Efficient hospital controlling
- Ability to compare costs and medical aspects of various cases
- Work is controlled using to-do lists
Pathway management in MCC
MCC supports the user in designing and documenting the pathways. Pathways are tools that help to organize and simplify work and fit seamlessly into the MCC workflow.
In MCC, a treatment pathway consists of a series of pathway steps, decision points and the links between these elements. Each pathway step or decision point can be assigned to an occupational group role. This defines the occupational group that is responsible for documenting the pathway step at a later point in time. MCC allows the user to combine pathway steps that have to be carried out simultaneously at a so-called collection point (e.g. pre-operative visits from the anesthesiologist and pre-operative preparation of the patient by the nursing staff).
Assigning the various steps ultimately fills the pathway with life. For example, if a pathway step is saved as a "Notify OR", the graphic tool allows the user to add all the attributes that are necessary to notify the OR such as the date of the scheduled surgery, the department performing the surgery, etc. Making pathway steps dependent upon one another and creating so-called automatic pathway steps is also possible. There is no need for the user to work through these pathway steps manually. Instead, they are considered completed when a specific condition is met (e.g. receipt of a test result from the lab).
The ability to call up explanations for individual pathway steps from the intranet and to display the unfinished pathway steps of all the patients in a ward in the form of a to-do list helps the user remain as oriented as possible. The user can go from the to-do lists directly to pathway documentation, which is where the activities that belong to the respective pathway are initiated.
MCC also makes it possible to evaluate documented pathways. In addition to various reports, an OLAP evaluation tool is available that allows the user to conduct, graphically display and publish even complicated database evaluations.
